Stocking fillers must be, in my opinion, the easiest part of Santa’s decision as to what to give the kids for Christmas. Kids love bits and the sillier the better. Last year Santa gave our son who was 6 a bag of insects with a magnifying glass. He played with this for most of the morning, ignoring his biggest gifts.
For boys I think the more you dislike something the more they will love it. For girls it’s anything sparkly that a magpie would risk it’s life to take from your house….
Since Christmas seems to revolve around food there’s no real need to fill the stockings with yet more sweets, but if you like to add a treat to the stocking, I thought this was a lovely idea from Thorntons Chocolates for Girls and also Chocolates for Boys
If you know your child is getting a toy that requires batteries, then batteries could go into the stocking.
If, like a lot of people this year, times are tough… go to your local £1 shop or €2 saver shops, they have lots of bits and bobs that could fill the biggest stocking for very little. Fancy pens and notepaper for girls, maybe some toy cars for the boys, they always have lots of little things that could make great stocking fillers for all ages.
